Every day
I like to spend time every day reading the Bible.
I like to spend time with Jesus every day. I like to talk to Him and pray and
praise and study His word every day. I like to, but I don't. I like to think
that sometimes it is hard to do what we would like to do every day. This is the
mind set that I had. "Well, there is so much on my plate that I just can't
find the time every day." But then I got to thinking. (Here we go
again) What if God was suddenly too busy to think about me? What if Jesus had
something else to do when I needed Him to draw near or intercede? What would
have happened if, instead of sacrificing Himself for my sins, He had something
else to do?

I take a shower every day.
| Some people read the newspaper every day, without exception.
| I make the time to fix at least one pot of coffee every day and I drink it.
| I go to work every day I'm supposed to.
| Some folks watch T. V. everyday. (some, all day, every day) |
This next one is the real kicker;
|
We spend time with our loved ones, every day. |
Think about that one for a moment. You might think, well Jesus is not here and my kids are. The fact of the matter is, you are with Jesus more than you are with anyone else. If you accepted Him as your savior, He is with you every minute of every day. And what better time to spend with Jesus than when in the company of our children? They need to know that it is important and they learn that from us. What if we made kids time the Lord's time as well? I don't see a down side to that.
Like many people, no doubt many of you who are reading this right now, I work for a living. In my business, this is the busy season and we are on extended hours so, if you count drive time, (and I do) then I oft times work 10 plus hours a day. Many of us have to cook and take care of someone else's needs on top of that. It is hard to find time every day to spend with God. Some of the things I have done to make sure I spend time with God every day are:
I pray during my commute to and from work. Since I am almost always alone, I pray out loud. I always feel better when I pray out loud. I don't know why. It just seems like Jesus is in the passenger seat, listening and keeping me company.
I keep a Bible in my living room and on my bed stand. During commercials I pick it up where I left off at the last commercial. More often than not, I'm lost as far as the television show's plot and am thinking about what I am reading instead.
I know this may sound crude but, I keep a Bible or Bible study book in the bathroom. Some of my best thinking happens in there.
The most important thing to me that I do to ensure time with God is that I get up at least an hour before I actually have to (sometimes more than that) so that I can sit down and devote some serious reading and study to Him. This works very well for me because it starts my day in a positive way. I leave the house with the Word of God fresh on my mind and will even talk to Him about what I have read or learned in the car as I drive to work. My day certainly seems to go better when I do this.
Another thing I do to reinforce my time with God is to talk about it with my wife. I am fortunate to have a wife who listens and discusses the Lord with me. She inspires me and makes me think about the things I have studied. She helps me. Sometimes I think that's why God lead me to her.
I guess my point is that no matter how busy we are, there is always time for God. Sometimes we just have to get creative to find it.
